New Work by Jim Osman
May 29 - August 28, 2009 Opening July 9th, 6-8pm
June 29, 12pm
Melville House Bookstore
Widely shown local Brooklyn artist Jim Osman exhibits his beautifully rendered objects that blurr the lines between painting and sculpture with great wit, charm and beauty.
Osman uses drawing as a building tool to bring physicality into his work—whether by the thickness of a line, or the way paint sits on a page creating an edge and subtle shadow. The subject matter—a mixture of architectural and furniture forms—helps push/pull the visceral quality of objects on a flat surface. In this way Osman creates a uniquely active conversation between drawing and sculpture.
