When rockers write
A Keith Kelly report in the New York Post says Bruce Springsteen “is said to be quietly working on his autobiography.” Kelly reports that there is not manuscript yet, but already “insiders” are telling him “It could be the biggest rock music autobiography of all time. He could get $9 million to $10 million for the world rights.” Note: That may have been an actual “insider,” because they said “world rights,” not “advance.”
Good sign for the book: “The Boss, who recently turned 60, has kept voluminous journals throughout his career. They will serve as the basis for the book”
Meanwhile, Kelly also notes a planned biography of Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner has run into trouble. Kelly says “lawyers are battling over” the book deal between Sonny Mehta at Knopf and biographer Lewis MacAdams.
Another anonymous source tells Kelly, “MacAdams was trying to protect his independence and delve into the psy chological basis of the man. Jann didn’t want that. He hates that stuff. He wanted a book about how great he was.”

The adore the Boss. I raised my children to adore the Boss. But I’m not sure we need him to plod through his thoughts and feelings and political leanings in a book. After 35+ years of music and live performances, we know him, and his story is perfect as is.
