Amazon flip-flops
It’s time for today’s episode of Amazon not making sense: As you may recall from yesterday’s episode, the world’s biggest online retailer refused to respond to a Times of London story that appeared Sunday, reporting that the company had been talking to landlords about getting some of its own brick-and-mortar retail space.
Yesterday, after the story went viral, Amazon decided to issue a response after all, according to a Bookseller report. The magazine says a company spokesman told them, “We have no plans to open physical stores anywhere in the world.”
So why didn’t they say so in the first place?
As a report in the Seattle Weekly says, “it’d be a lot more fun if Jeff Bezos said ‘We’re just messing with Wal-Mart.’”
