Hello, Motoko! Times learns about Scribd
The New York Times picks up on the story covered by the rest of the world nearly two months ago — that of Scrbd and its refusal to block postings of copyrighted material unless asked to. (See the MobyLives report from March.) The report by Motoko Rich doesn’t really add anything new to the story except a take on it from the inimitable Harlan Ellison, who has “pursued more than 240 people who have posted his work to the Internet without permission.”
Says Ellison, “If you put your hand in my pocket, you’ll drag back six inches of bloody stump.”
