Got a thousand bucks burning a hole in your pocket?
Senator Edward Kennedy, 77 year old patriarch of the Kennedy dynasty, has a new book coming from Hachette Book Group in the Fall, and they plan on milking it for all it’s worth — which, according to a report from The Examiner, is a considerable amount. “Kennedy’s book publisher will be selling limited editions for $1000. One thousand copies of the leather-bound, auto-pen signed edition of True Compass will be offered through the website of Hachette Book Group. The book promises to contain previously unpublished photos of his family.”
Those must be some photos.
In any event, that adds up to a cool one million dollars by this poor publisher’s reckoning. I suppose it’s a start on the way to making back that $8 million dollar advance Senator Kennedy received for the book he’s “writing” with Ron Powers. I suppose Mr. Powers needs to be paid too….
You can sign up to receive your limited edition on the Hachette website. Or you can forgo the fake signature, the leather binding and the extra photos, and fork over $35 when the book is in the stores, October 6.

A thousand bucks, and Ted didn’t even sign it in real pen? For a grand, he should not only personally inscribe it, but also deliver it to my house.
