The End of Books and Bookends

by

Surprisingly not the same thing! I figured everyone in the blogosphere (and elsewhere) is going to be chatting up the iPad (we certainly are), so I’m going to step back for a minute and talk about a different kind of end: the bookend. Apparently these are going to become more and more rare, but for right now, they’re one of my favorite ways to spruce up a book shelf and prop up all those paperbacks I have stacked haphazardly on nightstands, desks, and coffee tables. Plus, they make a great gift. Just ask my secret santa this year (antique wrought iron elephants!).

Over at design blog Design*Sponge, they seemed to have had the same idea. Enough of technology!  Even if just for a few minutes. So they put together a gorgeous collections of book ends yesterday, all for less than the cost of a Kindle or an iPad (or a handful of them, for that matter). Now, while I’m sure whatever reader you use would look even better leaned up against some of these ends, I hardly think you’ll have the need to use bookends to prop up all your electronic devices. But who knows, maybe you will.  For the full collection, and the links to get your hands on them, visit Design*Sponge.  But here are a few of my favorites:
